The Port of Metkovic is an old trading port on the river Neretva, located 20 km from the delta.
Its development boomed in 1891 when the narrow gauge railroad Sarajevo - Metkovic was constructed.
Since 1982 it operates as a part of the Port of Ploce.It is specialized for transshipment of cinder, bulk and packaged cement and other general cargo.
