The Port of Ploče is located on the southern part of the Adriatic coast of the Republic of Croatia, geographically positioned 43 ° 03 ‘N and 17 ° 26’ E. The port is located a few kilometers northwest of the mouth of the Neretva River, with the bay that encircles the peninsula Pelješac on the south and southwest, thus making a natural breakwater.
Located in the central part of the Adriatic, between Split and Dubrovnik, the port of Ploče is one of the main strategic Croatian ports. Excellent traffic connections and a favorable geostrategic position at the junction of important industrial routes makes it an inevitable link between the Adriatic, Mediterranean and Central Europe. As such, it is the most powerful business entity in the area from Split to Dubrovnik and with its business contributes to the development of the local community and Croatia.
Its tradition of being in business for more than 70 years is based on expanding business, quality service awareness and new investments, which is the foundation of continuous growth and development in the market. Accordingly, for many years Luka Ploče d.d. operated successfully as a state-owned company, and this trend continued as a joint stock company.
Although it is a port in the Republic of Croatia, it is of great importance for the economy of the neighboring Bosnia and Herzegovina, and at the completion of Corridor Vc, Luka Ploče d.d. together with the entire Neretva valley, will further expand its business to other Western and Central European countries.
Luka Ploče d.d. is a port through which cargoes, of almost all kinds of goods that occur in international maritime traffic, are carried out. Due to its geostrategic positions and new investments, it has been included on the world map of ports that can accept CAPE SIZE ships (up to 180,000 DWT).
